The historic farmhouse was built around 1860 and extended and remodeled in 1934 and in 1956. The middle section of the elongated barn, which is adjacent to the farmhouse, was converted into a living area for the next generation of residents. Existing structures were changed as little as possible in order to preserve the original character of the farm, yet modernized and adapted to the needs of the family. With a lot of personal involvement on the part of the owners, details from the existing structure were affectionately and carefully preserved, highlighted, and supplemented with clean, modern elements. Traditional courtyard windows in the south façade bring in more light, while on the north side, the wooden sidings were partially removed. A generous glass facade that was inserted behind the sidings is barely visible from the outside. Old timber beams and open brickwork contrast with the bright, lye-treated barn floors, made from wood from the surrounding forests.
